Everything You Need to Know
What is Dewilynk?
Dewilynk partners with commercial venues to install Helium-powered WiFi hotspots that expand decentralized mobile coverage. In return, you earn a share of the data usage revenue—effortlessly and passively.
How does it work?
We install a compact Helium hotspot device in your venue that connects to your existing internet. When mobile users near your space offload data through the hotspot, you earn rewards based on real data transferred.
Which mobile networks are supported?
Dewilynk hotspots support leading carriers and projects including:
AT&T
T-Mobile
Google Orion
Wefi
Helium Mobile
These networks use WiFi offload technology to improve coverage and reduce cellular congestion. More to come in the future.
What is “carrier offload via WiFi”?
Carrier offload allows mobile phones to connect automatically to nearby WiFi hotspots instead of overloading cellular towers. Your Helium hotspot becomes part of that offload network, helping carriers maintain high performance—and paying you in return.
Is it secure?
Yes—Helium hotspots are designed with enterprise-grade security in mind and operate independently from your private business network.
Carrier offload is handled using the Passpoint (Hotspot 2.0) protocol, a standardized WiFi technology supported by major telecom providers. Here's how security is ensured:
- Certificate-based authentication: Mobile devices connect using encrypted credentials issued by their mobile carrier, not passwords.
- Encrypted connections: All traffic between the device and the hotspot is protected with enterprise encryption, ensuring confidentiality and integrity.
- No access to your internal network: The Dewilynk hotspot broadcasts a separate, isolated SSID used strictly for carrier offload. Your business network remains untouched and fully secure.
Smart client onboarding: Devices connect automatically when in range, with no user interaction, using carrier-issued certificates.
This means your venue offers seamless connectivity to mobile users without ever sharing your WiFi password or exposing internal systems.
Security and privacy are foundational to both Helium and Passpoint protocols—and we continuously update devices to stay compliant with industry best practices.
What do I need to get started?
All you need is a power outlet and a reliable internet connection. Specifically, your connection should maintain at least:
- 100 Mbps download
- 10 Mbps upload.
These speeds help ensure consistent performance and eligibility for rewards.
Note: These requirements are set by the Helium DAO and may change over time based on new proposals called HIPs. Dewilynk will notify you of any major updates that affect hotspot performance or earnings.
Is this only for businesses?
Our focus is on commercial venues—cafés, retail shops, co-working spaces, gyms, hotels, etc.—where foot traffic and connectivity demand are high. If you own or manage a physical space, you’re likely a perfect fit.
Can I use my existing network equipment?
Yes! If your venue already has Passpoint-enabled WiFi infrastructure, you may be able to support Helium without installing new hardware. Some of the enterprise-grade brands that Helium supports are:
Ubiquiti UniFi
Aruba
Cisco
Meraki
Ruckus
Fortinet
Extreme Networks
If you're using equipment from any of these vendors, contact us to see if your setup is compatible—we can help you enable Helium coverage using your existing devices.
Why does this matter?
You're helping decentralize wireless infrastructure—making mobile connectivity more accessible, resilient, and people-powered. And you get paid for contributing. It’s a win-win.
